What You’ll Do:
The Systems Engineer will support the Chief Engineer organization on a major U.S. Government satellite communications program, providing systems engineering and technical coordination support across multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). This role assists in the execution of engineering activities spanning Space Vehicle development, Ground Segment implementation, mission operations, and broader program integration efforts supporting a Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) communications system operating in a Government-Owned, Contractor-Operated (GOCO) environment. The successful candidate will help coordinate technical activities, maintain engineering documentation, support requirements management processes, and ensure alignment across diverse engineering organizations. Working alongside senior systems engineers and technical leaders, this position provides broad exposure to large-scale space systems development, integration, and operations. It is well-suited for an early-career systems engineer seeking to grow into future technical integration, systems architecture, or Chief Engineer support roles.
- Support the Chief Engineer organization in coordinating engineering activities across program IPTs, including Space Vehicle, Ground Segment, Systems Engineering, and Operations & Sustainment teams
- Assist in tracking technical tasks, action items, and engineering deliverables across multiple organizations
- Support preparation and organization of technical reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR, and operational readiness activities
- Help maintain program technical documentation, including requirements artifacts, interface documentation, action logs, and engineering decision records
- Support systems engineering processes such as requirements traceability, configuration management, verification tracking, and risk management activities
- Coordinate engineering inputs across spacecraft, payload, ground, networking, cybersecurity, and mission operations teams to ensure technical alignment
- Support technical meeting preparation, status reporting, minutes, and follow-up action tracking
- Assist in development and maintenance of program dashboards, metrics, and technical reporting products
- Support integration and test planning activities spanning space and ground segment interfaces
- Participate in engineering working groups, customer engagements, and technical interchange meetings as required
- Assist with transition planning from development activities into operational sustainment environments
- Support continuous improvement efforts across systems engineering and technical integration processes
Who You Are:
You are a motivated systems engineer who enjoys bringing structure, coordination, and technical rigor to complex engineering programs. You understand the fundamentals of systems engineering and are eager to broaden your experience across spacecraft, payloads, ground systems, and mission operations. You thrive in collaborative environments, helping diverse technical teams stay aligned while maintaining strong organizational discipline and attention to detail. You are comfortable supporting technical reviews, managing documentation, and working alongside senior engineering leaders. Ultimately, you are seeking an opportunity to develop the systems thinking, integration experience, and cross-functional exposure required for future technical leadership roles within the space and defense industry.
