Cloud Engineer
Hybrid from Reston, VA or Tampa, FL (must be within commutable distance to office location)
As our Cloud Engineer, you will be involved with designing, developing, analyzing, testing, and debugging cloud-native applications built with the Microsoft and Amazon Government Clouds. To be most successful you will have an innate ability to design and implement cloud solutions based on customer requirements with multiple engineering disciplines.
Additionally, your strong understanding of database design and management, streaming data, microservice architectures, continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD) and automated testing will be an advantage in this position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of products, systems/subsystems
- Motivated individual with a positive attitude and an ability to complete a technical project independently as well as mentor and coach other engineers
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with program management, engineering, and the customer as required
- Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
- Interact with technical management, other professionals, engineers, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
- Support engineering and operations teams with defining overall solution architecture for applications hosted in cloud-native environments (hybrid, on-prem and cloud)
- Build terraform scripts to automatically push services, applications, and updates to on-prem and cloud infrastructure
- Maintain and build CI/CD pipelines in GitLab
- Define and document deployment guidelines for Azure, on-prem, and hybrid environments
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- 5, or more, years of experience with Azure or AWS Cloud Development using languages such as Golang, Python, and/or .NET core
- 5, or more, years of experience with database design using relational and/or time-series databases
- US Citizenship required with willingeness to obtain DOD Security Clearance
- Fluency in modern technologies, design, and SDLC
- Hands-on experience with Azure and hybrid-cloud environments
- Hands-on experience designing and building CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Infrastructure-as-code experience to include extensive experience with Terraform and Ansible, writing custom modules from scratch, and helping guide the evolution of a large and growing codebase
- Strong understanding of containers and container orchestration
- Knowledge of security standards and controls
Desired Experience (with one or more)
- Secret clearance, or willingness to obtain a secret clearance
- Exposure and understanding of Network Management Systems, such as ScienceLogic SL1
- Experience with streaming data or message queueing
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience in the Satcom industry
- Experience working on Federal Government and DoD contracts
- Ability to design & deliver solutions to the cloud, hybrid, or on-premise infrastructure as needed by the project
The base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000.00 - $165,000.00 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
